The Hunt for Lower Fees

Huge day for bargaining today. I believe I will have the opportunity to pull a Dr. Jeffrey Pelt. Not every day that Tom Clancy becomes a model for bargaining.

No go. Linton told me that I had to say that what happened today was merely discussion, not a proposal. So, the UO did NOT propose givebacks on health insurance, they merely discussed them.

Interestingly, it looks like Linton will be the next president of the UO. I try to keep this in mind when I am tempted to call him on some of his b.s. Then, it also occurs to me that to him it is not b.s. Easy to forget that the UO's pleas of poverty are not bargaining tactics so much as they are the outcome of the state, you know, not giving the UO any money.

Hilariously though, Linton was rambling on about how he wishes there was some way that we could really know what GTFs thought about balancing the need to fund health care with their need for higher wages and lower fees. He was being quite genuine. I said something like, "Thank God there's a group on campus that represents GTFs on these matters that you can discuss them with." Linton must have thought I said, "It would be great if..." as he responded with a perfectly genuine, "Yeah, that would be great."
